Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>A meeting attended by Agriculture CS Peter Munya, on Friday, June 18, was disrupted shortly after the CS had delivered his speech.<\/p>\n

Munya oversaw the first day of Meru County Agriculture field day at Maili Tatu stadium in Igembe Central. The CS was accompanied by various heads of parastatals within the Ministry of Agriculture and local leaders.<\/p>\n

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, a rowdy crowd gathered and sang local songs taunting the CS and his entourage. Police intervened after Munya had spoken, with a number of officers spread among the crowd to calm them down.<\/p>\n

It was not ascertained whether the meeting was cut short or went on thereafter. Munya had dared his critics to criticise him in the open rather than use outlets and stooges.<\/p>\n

The CS dared the opponents to also organise huge rallies that attract mass followers to prove that they were popular like he alleged he was.<\/p>\n

“Wataweza kweli. Tukisema waweke mikutano ka hizi ya umati mkubwa. Wakuje waongee hapa nje kwa uwanja waache kujificha.<\/p>\n

“Let them come out in the open and stop hiding behind closed doors,” Munya hit out seemingly at those opposed to his leadership and interest in the 2022 Meru Gubernatorial Elections.<\/p>\n

Earlier on, the CS spoke on various issues relating to the region. Munya through his Facebook page labelled the day as a success.<\/p>\n

“The field day brings various agriculture stakeholders to sensitize farmers on modern methods of farming aimed at giving farmers skills and expertise to increase their productivity and improve on quality.<\/p>\n

“Being majorly a miraa growing area, I assured miraa stakeholders of the government’s commitment to seek new markets and restore the already existing ones,” he posted.<\/p>\n
