{"id":29969,"date":"2021-06-21T14:38:26","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T14:38:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=29969"},"modified":"2021-06-21T13:59:36","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T13:59:36","slug":"expectant-woman-sues-speaker-lusaka-over-ksh-25m-compensation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/expectant-woman-sues-speaker-lusaka-over-ksh-25m-compensation","title":{"rendered":"Expectant Woman Sues Speaker Lusaka Over Ksh 25M Compensation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>An expectant woman has sued Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, claiming that he is the father of her 3-month unborn child.<\/p>\n<p>She added that the former Bungoma Governor reportedly sired the child and further wants him to accept the charges and take responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>The lady wants Ksh25 million as compensation according to multiple press reports.<\/p>\n<p>The money, she added, would be used to finance her prenatal clinics, food, health and insurance since Lusaka reportedly absconded his duties.<\/p>\n<p>Her lawyer, Danstan Omari claimed that Lusaka and the lady had been having an affair since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The two were reported to have been frequently meeting but their relationship was reportedly severed after she revealed her pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>Lusaka and his accuser allegedly differed over her claims forcing her to seek litigation. The Speaker was accused of asking the woman to terminate the pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The applicant declined to accept as she has not been intimate with any other man other than the respondent, a fact that can be confirmed through a prenatal paternity test,&#8221; reads court papers.<\/p>\n<p>In the affidavit, the lady further claimed that she was stressed and unemployed and was at risk of a miscarriage for being unable to fund her prenatal clinics.<\/p>\n<p>She lamented that she was struggling with life yet the alleged father enjoyed VIP protection, high wages, allowances and a celebrity lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLusaka\u2019s defiant and brazen refusal to accept responsibility and assist the applicant to access esteemed hospitals capable of giving her highest standard of prenatal care threaten the life of their unborn child and is, therefore, in sharp contravention with the constitutional safeguards of life which begins at conception,\u201d the court papers read.<\/p>\n<p>The judge ruled that the case be heard on July 7.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
