Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) on Monday, June 21, launched a self-service portal for customers to effectively access services online.<\/p>\n

Through the new portal, users can calculate their monthly bills and access information regarding their charges.<\/p>\n

While launching the portal, KPLC Managing Director Bernard Ngugi added that the new service is a digital transformation process for the company in its bid to make services easily accessible to customers.<\/p>\n

“The portal is in line with one of the Company’s core strategic pillars of enhancing customer experience aimed at making services more accessible to customers.<\/p>\n

“The convenient application process will also help drive sales, which is among the key pillars of our turnaround strategy,” Ngugi stated.<\/p>\n

How to Calculate Monthly Bill<\/b><\/p>\n

i) Access the KPLC self-service portal via:<\/p>\n

ii) For new users on the portal click the register tab: there are two fields; register either as a landlord or as a tenant.<\/p>\n

iii) In the case of a tenant, fill in the required information such as your full names, contact, and phone number.<\/p>\n

-Select either to use your contact or email for login<\/p>\n

iv) Read and tick on the terms and conditions box and enter the verification code sent to your phone.<\/p>\n

v) Once registered, head over to the bill calculator tab at the left-hand section of the portal.<\/p>\n

vi) Fill in the month and year and the electricity tariff (a drop-down box will appear whereby the user chooses the type of tariff either Domestic Consumers or Small Commercial).<\/p>\n

vii) Then click calculate, a statement should be brought revealing the amount for the month stipulated.(KPLC issues a disclaimer that charges may vary).<\/p>\n

Among other services that a user can access using the portal includes filing applications for electricity connections, reporting power outages, bill queries, carrying out prepaid token queries, filing requests for changing account holders.<\/p>\n

In order to access services such as applying for electricity connections, the KPLC boss affirmed that a user is required to submit documents such as ID cards, PIN certificates through the portal.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce they apply, customers will get a reference number instantaneously that they can use to proactively query and track their application status via USSD code *977#,\u201d Ngugi stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
