Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued a statement on Saturday, June 26, notifying the public of a temporary closure in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

The ramp that links Waiyaki Way to Forest Road shall be temporarily closed for 34 days beginning Monday, June 28, 2021, till Sunday, August 1, 2021. The closure comes due to the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway.<\/p>\n

KeNHA’s statement contains a schematic guide for road users to navigate the ramp’s location.<\/p>\n

The Capital Centre access located along Mombasa Road will also be temporarily closed beginning Monday, June 28, 2021 till Saturday, July 17, 2021.<\/p>\n

KeNHA’s road closures prompt motorists to identify alternative routes to avoid traffic jams.<\/p>\n

The ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway has turned the Kenyan Capital into a grid-locked city with cars piling up for hours on end during rush hour.<\/p>\n

Mombasa Road, Uhuru & Waiyaki Highways have been scenes of road carnage as motorists try to find new routes to save on time. Overlapping and consequently accidents have become a common feature.<\/p>\n

Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), on Sunday, June 6, directed the contractor in charge of the Ksh65 billion Nairobi Expressway to implement a better traffic management system on Mombasa Road.<\/p>\n

This came after concerns regarding increased traffic snarl-up affecting the major highway were raised by motorists.<\/p>\n

The directive came a day after KeNHA Chairman Eng. Wangai Ndirangu and Director General Eng. Peter Mundinia conducted an inspection of the highway on Saturday, June 5<\/p>\n
