Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>KeNHA has issued an advisory to motorists plying Langata road to be cautious when driving at T-Mall along Lang’ata Road since the construction of a Ksh3 billion bridge construction has commenced.<\/p>\n

The project consists of upgrading the Langata-Mbagathi-Mai Mahiu crossing utilizing a four-lane flyover on Langata road, as well as the expansion of adjacent roads, and the construction of a footbridge on Mbagathi way.<\/p>\n

The advisory reads, \u201cPursuant to Traffic Act Cap.403 sec.71, KeNHA wishes to notify the general public that sections of Langata Road and Mbagathi way, contiguous to the T-Mall roundabout area shall be narrowed by means of fences, to allow construction works on the existing road medians and shoulders.\u201d<\/p>\n

KeNHA has further asked motorists to exercise caution around the area and to comply with the traffic management plan, signalization, and instructions given by the traffic marshals.<\/p>\n

The flyover is expected to facilitate motorists headed to Rongai and Magadi to cross the road at the Shell petrol station that is adjacent to the Wilson Airport.<\/p>\n

Vehicles headed to South C, Mbagathi Road, and Wilson Airport will pass via the underpass bringing sanity to traffic flow around that area.<\/p>\n

The project, which is aimed at ending traffic jams at the busy Langata Road junction, was conceptualized under the Public-Private Partnership between the Government of Kenya and the Spanish Government.<\/p>\n

KeNHA revealed that the construction of the project was expected to take 36 months (3 Years) and construction will happen in seven phases, to ensure minimal traffic interruptions.<\/p>\n

Construction is being implemented under the EPC\/Turnkey Contract framework and it was signed between KeNHA and the Contractor, Mls CENTURION Espa\u00f1ola de Coordinacion Tecnica Y Financiera, S.A of Spain.<\/p>\n

The construction is projected to offer a safe passage for pedestrians and reduce road carnages experienced around the area due to the pedestrian footbridge set to be erected at the Mbagathi wayside.<\/p>\n

Phases of construction<\/p>\n

Phase 1: Widening of Langata road, between Langata road, Tmall, and Nairobi river.<\/p>\n

Phase 2: The median and inner lanes of Lang\u2019ata Road will be hedged to allow piling works between Wilson Airport and T-Mall Roundabout.<\/p>\n

Phase 3: Piling and foundation works will continue between Wilson Airport and T-Mall roundabout.<\/p>\n

Phase 4 : Will involve the continuance of piling works between T-Mall Roundabout and Nairobi River. The existing median and inner lanes will be fenced to allow the works.<\/p>\n

Phase 5: Foundation works continue on Lang\u2019ata Road between Wilson Airport, T-Mall Roundabout, and Nairobi River.<\/p>\n

Phase 6: Foundation works will continue during the daytime, while erection works will be carried out at night when traffic will be diverted through one side of Lang\u2019ata Road.<\/p>\n

Phase 7:The erection process and the remaining civil works will be completed in phase seven. During this stage, fences and other traffic measures will be eased gradually.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
