Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Sunday, July 11: Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro ran into a pro-Jubilee crowd in Kiambaa constituency.<\/b><\/p>\n

The MP was trying to intervene after the United Democratic Alliance (UDA’s) planned meeting at Karuri Primary school was cancelled by police.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the crowd heckled the MP as they chanted for the ruling party. A section of them also ushered Nyoro to leave the scene.<\/b><\/p>\n

Nyoro, tried to calm the crowd but efforts were futile as the enraged crowd continued chanting.<\/b><\/p>\n

Police officers based in Kiambu County have cancelled both rallies belonging to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Jubilee party scheduled to be held at Karuri Primary school.<\/p>\n

Kiambu Deputy County Commander Ali Nuno affirmed that two rival events couldn’t take place at one venue.<\/p>\n

Nuno also cited security reasons as another factor for the cancellation of both rallies.<\/p>\n

Murang’a Senator Irung’u Kang’ata, a staunch supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, alluded to the incident citing that UDA had booked the venue in advance.<\/p>\n

The two rallies were aimed at ramping up support for their candidates in the hotly contested Kiambaa and Muguga by-elections slated for Thursday, July 15.<\/p>\n

The Kiambaa by-elections will see a face-off between Jubilee’s Kariri Njama and UDA’s John Njuguna while in Muguga there will be a clash between Jubilee’s Githinji Mung’ara and UDA’s Kamau Thumbi.<\/p>\n

According to many politicians and pundits, the two by-elections will be a litmus test for the 2022 General elections where both parties will expect to field candidates in different fields.<\/p>\n

The recently held by-elections gave the country a glimpse of next year’s General elections. In the Bonchari by-elections, ODM scooped the victory with their candidate Pavel Oimeke beating both Jubilee’s Zebedeo Opore and UDA’s Teresa Bitutu.<\/p>\n

However, in Rurii ward by-elections, UDA’s Francis Muraya emerged victorious against Jubilee’s Peter Thinji.<\/p>\n

In Juja by-elections, George Koimburi of the Peoples Empowerment Party (PEP), under Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, defeated Jubilee’s Susan Waititu.<\/p>\n

Both UDA and Jubilee are set to front candidates as the General elections draw closer. The DP is heavily touted to vie for the Presidency using the UDA outfit.<\/p>\n

Jubilee, on the other hand, is linked to a coalition with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party- a bid that is seen to seal off the 2018 handshake agreement between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
