Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Machakos governor Alfred Mutua has revealed what his intentions were in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s recently concluded tour of Ukambani. His plan was to \u2018milk\u2019 the head of state for the sake of development for the region\u2019s constituents.<\/p>\n

Mutua, speaking to Radio Citizen on Monday, July 12, revealed that the president\u2019s visit was opportune to get hold of his best attention and engage him on the way forward in terms of infrastructural and social advancements that would benefit the people of Machakos.<\/p>\n

In addition to that, he lauded his fellow governors namely Charity Ngilu of Kitui County and Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni County for optimizing President Uhuru\u2019s tour to advance the development agenda for their jurisdictions. The president unveiled a number of multi-billion shilling projects consisting mostly of roads and dams.<\/p>\n

Mutua also remarked that Raila\u2019s presence, which came as a surprise to many, brought tension. Raila and Wiper\u2019s Kalonzo had been in a state of disagreement as the latter publicly denounced the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) chief.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Mutua faulted tribal Kingpins for not bringing substantial development to their region but instead preying on the president to secure political endorsement only, unlike governors who sought consultation for development.<\/p>\n

Answering the plight of citizens, he reiterated that Kenyans had suffered for long as a result of deception constantly hammered on them by the apparent kingpins.<\/p>\n

During his tour, President Uhuru joined Mutua in the official opening of the ultra-modern Machakos International Convention Center (MICC). The building is located in the iconic Machakos People\u2019s Park.<\/p>\n

On the same day, the leaders also officially opened Machakos Governor\u2019s Office also referred to as \u2018The White House\u2019. These two latest projects have further complemented his rich track record of development.<\/p>\n

In 2019, All Africa Advisors, a London-based company, unveiled the results of a survey report which ranked Kenya\u2019s 47 governors in accordance with their performance. Mutua was ranked as the best-performing county boss that year.<\/p>\n

On September 6th 2020, Governor Mutua announced his entry into the 2022 Presidential Elections. He will be seeking the people’s mandate to serve as the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya under the tagline \u2018Mambo ni Fresh na Mutua.\u2019<\/p>\n
