Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) boss Mohammed Badi has directed all Kenyans planning to open businesses at the Green Park terminus to submit their expressions of interest (EoI) before Friday, July 16.<\/p>\n

Badi added that the terminus would serve as host to a number of businesses among them vehicle cleaning services, vehicle fuelling and servicing services, advertising spaces, financial services, and eateries.<\/p>\n

Other services include ablution cleaning and management services, commercial office space as well as retail shops.<\/p>\n

“Expressions of interest are to be enclosed in plain sealed envelopes and must reach the office of the deputy director-general by July 16, 2021, from the date of this advertisement,\u201d Badi stated.<\/p>\n

The NMS boss also unveiled plans to lease the space at the terminal for commercial basis:<\/p>\n

He detailed that 35 percent of the space would be reserved for women and youth, five percent would be designated for persons with disabilities while the rest of the space would be allocated to the general public.<\/p>\n

Further, all business owners who operated at the demolished Lunar Park, currently Green Park, did not need to apply.<\/p>\n

“This notice, therefore, invites the general public to submit expressions of interest to lease space at the Green Park terminal for various commercial purposes or complimentary public transport service,” he acknowledged.<\/p>\n

Initially, NMS Transport and Public Works Director Engineer Michael Ochieng affirmed that the terminus would be operated at a fee.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe park will operate a certain fee, a token fee, which enables its sustainability. It will translate to what activities will be within the park, what traders will sell, (and) use of the ablution blocks, among others,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The terminus is part of NMS plans to decongest traffic within the Central Business District (CBD). It’s slated to be a drop-off and pickup point for matatus plying the Ngong Road and Lang’ata routes.<\/p>\n

Currently, three test runs have been conducted on the terminus in a bid to see how it would run when fully operational.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
