Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Former Speaker of National Assembly Kenneth Marende was among several Western Kenya politicians who have asked Mudavadi to leave the National Super Alliance (NASA). They stressed that the coalition did not have the best interests for him, specifically, his presidential bid.<\/p>\n

Mudavadi was urged to forge accords with new allies as it would reinforce his journey to Kenya’s presidency. Speaking on Sunday, July 11 at a Nairobi church, the politicians, including Senator Cleophas Malala, Johnson Sakaja, Petronilla Were and others, asserted that NASA was no longer viable as the country\u2019s opposition. Malala remarked that it died when the \u2018handshake\u2019 was born.<\/p>\n

The legislators, who are affiliated with Mudavadi\u2019s Amani National Congress (ANC) have called for the dissolution of the National Super Alliance (NASA). The opposition coalition has reportedly \u2018outlived its usefulness.\u2019<\/p>\n

This was asserted as Raila, one of the principals of NASA, apparently \u2018defected\u2019 as soon as he entered into the Handshake Deal with President Uhuru in March 2018. Senator Johnson Sakaja expressed his desire to see Mudavadi unite with parties and individuals who were genuinely concerned with the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

Recently, Sakaja called on the government to reduce taxes as a means of lighting Kenyans\u2019 heavy load.<\/p>\n

However, Raila denied assertions to the effect that the super coalition was at a dead end and instead declared that the National Super Alliance (NASA) would revamp its efforts for the 2022 general elections. On the contrary, Mudavadi retorted that the alliance was overtaken by the nation\u2019s political situation.<\/p>\n

In recent months, Mudavadi, who vied for presidency in 2013, has worked with Wiper\u2019s Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula from Ford Kenya and KANU\u2019s Gideon Moi. The quartet has come together under the moniker One Kenya Alliance (OKA).<\/p>\n

The above-mentioned party leaders are among Kenya\u2019s seasoned politicians that bear a significant track record in the country\u2019s opposition. Their reasons for entering a coalition is to unite the country and bring an end to political hatred.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, most political observers have noted Kenyans tending to forge parties and coalitions ahead of the expected general elections. National Super Alliance (NASA) was birthed as a result of August 2017\u2019s disputed elections.<\/p>\n

Be that as it may, the constitution has limited formalisation of One Kenya Alliance (OKA). The law provides that a single political party cannot be in two coalitions.<\/p>\n

Moreover, (Kenya Africa National Union) KANU is yet to withdraw from its post-election coalition with Jubilee to be eligible in scoring more deals in One Kenya Alliance (OKA).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
