Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Social media has been awash with sentiments after a photo went viral of President Uhuru Kenyatta posing with Eunice Wanjiku and her daughter Esther Nyambura at a village in Gakoe, Kiambu County.<\/p>\n

Eunice Wanjiku, a grandmother of two, made a special request after a chance meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta this past week.<\/p>\n

Wanjiku narrated that she seized the opportunity to appeal to Uhuru to provide her family with a cow in order to allow them to cater to their needs.<\/p>\n

“At first I was scared to approach him as he had been surrounded by bodyguards. He, however, instructed us not to leave until we shared a conversation. When he finished touring the site, I went to him and shared my family’s plight,” Wanjiku informed Inooro TV.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that Uhuru had gone to inspect a water treatment plant in Gakoe, Kiambu County.<\/p>\n

She added that the president was touched by her daughter’s plight. According to Wanjiku, Nyambura (her daughter) had recently lost her husband and was left to fend for their two children.<\/p>\n

She further revealed that since the demise of Nyambura’s husband, she had taken up the mantle to provide for her daughter and grandchildren. Wanjiku stated that the request to be gifted a cow would help her family make ends meet.<\/p>\n

However, nearby residents who spoke to the media faulted the modesty of Wanjiku’s request to Uhuru alleging that they would have issued the President with a different set of demands.<\/p>\n

“I would not have allowed Uhuru to leave without catering to my needs which would include a 5-acre piece of land, a five-bedroomed house, Ksh10 million funds,” a resident stated much to the amusement of a nearby crowd.<\/p>\n

This encounter mirrors Uhuru’s chance meeting with musician Pascal Tokodi along State House road in early 2021.<\/p>\n

The musician came under fire from Kenyans after he requested the President to watch the popular drama show Selina, in which he stars in.<\/p>\n

Some argued that Tokodi could have utilised the opportunity in order to highlight serious issues affecting the country such as corruption and unemployment concerns.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
