Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto is pumping up his bottom-up rhetoric as the 2022 general election beckons.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Sunday, July 18, during a mass at the St. Patrick\u2019s Catholic Church in Kilifi County, the DP argued that his approach was Godly and used a bible verse to justify it.<\/p>\n

Ruto went on to condemn the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and leaders who support it in order to delegate power and privilege to themselves.<\/p>\n

“When you read Psalms 113 verse 7 to 8, God elevates the weak and poor to such a level that they dine with royalty.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no other way to uplift people other than the bottom-up approach and that is how we will help the poor in our society,” underscored Ruto.<\/p>\n

Ruto further trashed the BBI saying that the most important agenda on his focus is that of economic recovery and making lower-income Kenyans get on their knees.<\/p>\n

“Woe unto those who create laws that marginalize and undermine others, and that take from the poor; it is inevitable that you will pay for those sins,” he remarked.<\/p>\n

The Deputy President visited the Kilifi North Catholic Church a day after he had attended a burial in Chonyi, Kilifi County, where he touched on BBI and his intention of focusing on economics for the betterment of the quality of life of the underprivileged in society.<\/p>\n

Accompanying the DP was embattled Member of Parliament for Malindi, Aisha Jumwa and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, who both spoke at the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, the projected bigwigs in the upcoming elections, have been going at it with each other in terms of the delineation of their policies ahead of 2022, each faulting the other\u2019s approach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
