Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The plight of a family whose three members perished in a house fire has caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta who has since intervened.<\/p>\n

The Wednesday, July 14 night inferno left a mother and three children dead in Nakuru\u2019s Subukia area.<\/p>\n

In an act of goodwill, President Kenyatta \u2013 through Governor Lee Kinyanjui \u2013 donated Ksh 1 million to help the family rebuild their lives.<\/p>\n

The Head of State also sent a message of condolence to the family terming the incident as unfortunate.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is still under investigations even as Nakuru Police commander Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed that two other children managed to escape.<\/p>\n

“Two children aged 12 and 9 years were sleeping in a separate room when they were woken up by the fire. They unsuccessfully tried to wake up their mother and their other three siblings,\u201d said Kiraguri.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that the President has stepped in to aid a family in despair.<\/p>\n

Recently, he fulfilled a Kiambu grandmother’s wish after he donated two expectant cows that were delivered by Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyaga.<\/p>\n

The granny and her daughter had initially posed for a photo with the President after a chance meeting with him. It was at this moment that she made clear her request to the President.<\/p>\n

“At first I was scared to approach him as he had been surrounded by bodyguards,\u201d stated the granny identified as Wanjiku.<\/p>\n

“He, however, instructed us not to leave until we shared a conversation. When he finished touring the site, I went to him and shared my family’s plight,”.<\/p>\n

The grandmother requested Uhuru to provide her family with a cow saying that it would help them cater to their needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
