Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and UDA Chairman, Johnson Muthama, hugged and reconciled their differences months after they had a public confrontation.<\/p>\n

The duo met on Saturday, July 24, at a burial ceremony in Mwingi Central, Kitui County.<\/p>\n

Muthama, speaking in Kamba vernacular, assured the crowd that Kalonzo was his brother who he (Muthama) was open to supporting in 2022 despite being a UDA member.<\/p>\n

He added that Kalonzo was still a force to reckon with but Deputy President William Ruto\u2019s bottom-up approach was sweeping across the country, and Ukambani would also be swayed in the DP’s favour.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo rejected calls to join UDA but welcomed the DP to woo voters in Eastern Region.<\/p>\n

“I will also go to Ruto’s backyard, Rift Valley, Kisumu and other areas to seek support. That is the nation we want.<\/p>\n

“I agree and allow my brother to take his political course. We congratulate you for being UDA’s chairman and we wish you well. But if we defeat you, you will have to join your brother,” Kalonzo told Muthama.<\/p>\n

Muthama announced that he would vie for the Machakos Governor’s seat to succeed incumbent Alfred Mutua and expects stiff competition from Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper.<\/p>\n

The two first differed after Muthama exited Wiper in 2017 and confronted each other at a funeral on Wednesday, February 10 in Machakos when Kalonzo endorsed Muthama’s wife, Agnes Kavindu, for the county’s Senatorial seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter next year you will see Muthama running back to me. He knows where we are and where we are going. Even if he goes up and down, I will give him back his wife and tell him she\u2019s now a senator,\u201d Kalonzo stated.<\/p>\n

Muthama charged towards Kalonzo intending to confront him face to face but was restrained by MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town) and Patrick Makau (Mavoko).<\/p>\n

The UDA Chairman, later on, reprimanded the Special Envoy to South Sudan for dragging private family affairs into the public.<\/p>\n
