Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has broken his silence after reports emerged that there was a cold war between him and his Mathira counterpart Rigathi Gachagua.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke on Monday, July 26, the outspoken lawmaker described their relationship as extremely good.<\/p>\n

He dismissed talk by political pundits that the two were embroiled in a bitter rivalry over who between them was best suited to become Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate.<\/p>\n

The Gatundu South MP has been a victim of fake news reports mimicking Kenyans.co.ke brand to come up with hard-hitting quotes purporting to attack Gachagua.<\/p>\n

“I have an extremely very good relationship with Hon Rigathi Gachagua on a personal, political and business fronts.<\/p>\n

“As to whoever is sponsoring these fake quotes, your guess is as good as mine,” Kuria told Kenyans.co.ke.<\/p>\n

This comes after reports emerged that the two leaders had fallen out after the Gatundu lawmaker hesitates in declaring his support for the DP William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.<\/p>\n

One of the disputed messages indicated that Kuria had told off a lawmaker who had been arrested due to corruption.<\/p>\n

“If you have been arrested because of corruption don’t make your arrest look like a hustler nation’s problem. You stole alone. Carry your own cross,” read the poorly made quote box aimed at mimicking our brand.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview, Kuria stated that he would not lead the Kikuyu community into joining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.<\/p>\n

He explained that he would drum up support for Deputy President William Ruto but would not join the party that many pundits are speculating he will use to contest.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker made the bold statement directed towards Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata challenging him to communicated clearly his stance.<\/p>\n

“If you go for dowry negotiations and you are being carried in a car donated by the groom, the groom’s family will not respect you and you will not get much. I will not be counted among those negotiating dowry from a point of weakness. This is message is for Kang’ata so that he can deliver it to our boss.”<\/p>\n

“We have done the bigger thing by supporting someone that isn’t from our community but when we start planning ourselves and form our own party we should not be called tribalists. If things go south, and they often do, what will we tell our people? These days even women who are getting married do not burn the bed they were sleeping on in their parent’s house,” Kuria stated.<\/p>\n

UDA is currently making inroads in Mt Kenya region with the aim of succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
