{"id":32497,"date":"2021-07-30T14:14:01","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T14:14:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/ig-mutyambai-issues-orders-to-police-commanders-over-political-rallies"},"modified":"2021-07-30T14:13:17","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T14:13:17","slug":"ig-mutyambai-issues-orders-to-police-commanders-over-political-rallies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/ig-mutyambai-issues-orders-to-police-commanders-over-political-rallies","title":{"rendered":"IG Mutyambai Issues Orders to Police Commanders Over Political Rallies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai issued orders to all police commanders in regards to stopping political rallies and enforcing curfew rules.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Friday, July 30, at Harambee House, The IG directed all police commanders to ensure that directives issued by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe are followed to the letter.<\/p>\n<p>He additionally noted that it was his sole job to ensure that all protocols are followed to the letter.<\/p>\n<p>Sounding a warning that the country was on the brink of a fourth wave, Kagwe prohibited all political gatherings countrywide.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All the protocols CS Mutahi Kagwe has highlighted, the National Police Service (NPS) is to enforce all the protocols. In that regard, I give instructions to officers with effect from today that all protocols to be enforced and measures stepped up.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There will be no public gathering and political rallies and we are not going to have a discussion on that matter. Officers take instruction on this including commanders. Those meetings have already been prohibited,&#8221; stated Mutyambai.<\/p>\n<p>He also challenged citizens to ensure that they follow the directives properly to avoid run-ins with law enforcers especially during curfew hours.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Be in the right place at the right time. During the curfew, I urge all the members of the public to stay home. You play your part as a citizen and I give instructions to all commanders to ensure compliance of all those protocols,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Kagwe announced an extension to the national curfew noting that it was scheduled to start from 10 pm to 4 am across the whole country.<\/p>\n<p>He also directed that all government and intergovernmental meetings be held virtually or postponed.<\/p>\n<p>Kagwe further stated that all employers should allow employees to work from home until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>He directed that all forms of physical congregational meetings be done under the guidelines of the interfaith council. In-person worship is to be limited to a third of the capacity of places of worship.
