Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Police officers in Rongo sub-county engaged in a car chase with a motor vehicle driver along the Awondo-Rongo highway.<\/p>\n

The officers, who had mounted a road block along the highway, had asked the driver to stop but he ignored the orders and fled, raising suspicion.<\/p>\n

The officers opted to follow the vehicle in a chase that lasted for more than one hour.<\/p>\n

Rongo Sub-county Police Commander Peter Okiring confirmed that culprits abandoned the vehicle and jumped into River Kuja.<\/p>\n

The abandoned vehicle had bhang weighing 1.94kg which had been packed in five sacks and was being ferried to an unknown destination.<\/p>\n

On their way to the station, the police officers bumped into another vehicle (Probox) which they suspect was ferrying the suspects. However, the suspects also deserted the vehicle and escaped.<\/p>\n

The two vehicles have been towed to Kamagambo police station and the bhang seized.<\/p>\n

A similar incident took place three days ago after police in Isiolo seized bhang worth Ksh855,000 that was being transported by a personal vehicle along the Isiolo-Moyale road.<\/p>\n

The vehicle, which had five students, was intercepted by a multi-agency security team at Archers Post.<\/p>\n

“We suspect the bhang was from Ethiopia and was being transported to Nairobi,” Isiolo County Police Commander Joseph Kigen stated.<\/p>\n

Kigen warned that inspection of vehicles in the area had been intensified and culprits would be brought to book.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
