{"id":33034,"date":"2021-08-07T15:10:07","date_gmt":"2021-08-07T15:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=33034"},"modified":"2021-08-07T13:48:18","modified_gmt":"2021-08-07T13:48:18","slug":"positivity-rate-at-15-5-as-1561-people-test-positive-for-covid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/positivity-rate-at-15-5-as-1561-people-test-positive-for-covid","title":{"rendered":"Positivity rate at 15.5% as 1,561 people test positive for Covid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has announced another 1,561 positive cases of the coronavirus from a sample size of 10,072 tested in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Kagwe said in a statement on Friday that the county\u2019s positivity rate is at 15.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The CS said that from the cases, 1,495 are Kenyans while 66 are foreigners. 803 males while 758 are females.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest patient is a one-month-old infant while the oldest is 98 years.<\/p>\n<p>This brings the total confirmed positive cases to 209,823 and cumulative the tests conducted are 2,176,118.<\/p>\n<p>He said that 102 patients have recovered from the disease with 91 from various health facilities countrywide while 11 are from home-based isolation and Care.<\/p>\n<p>Total recoveries now stand at 195,787 out of which 156,780 are from the Home Based Care and Isolation program, while 39,007 are from various health facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-one patients have succumbed to the virus, one of them in the last 24 hours while 30 are late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits on diverse dates in April, May June, and July 2021.<\/p>\n<p>This now pushes the cumulative fatalities to 4,088.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 1,576 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 5,834 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.<\/p>\n<p>Also, 108 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 46 of whom are on ventilatory support and 55 on supplemental oxygen. 7 patients are under observation.<\/p>\n<p>Another 554 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 521 of them in general wards and 33 in High Dependency Units (HDU).<\/p>\n<p>The distribution of cases is as follows; Nairobi 674, Kiambu 144, Mombasa 74, Nakuru 71, Machakos 57, Kirinyaga 56, Busia 55, Kilifi 44, Murang\u2019a 44, Uasin Gishu 32, Kajiado 29, Homa bay 27, Kisii 23, Nandi 22, Lamu 22, and Nyeri 20.<\/p>\n<p>Baringo 19, Kericho 18, Embu 17, Nyandarua 13, Meru 11, Garissa 9, Migori 9, Laikipia 9, Makueni 9, Bomet 8, Taita Taveta 7, Kitui 7, Siaya 5, Tana River 5, Isiolo 4, Kakamega 4, Bungoma 4, Narok 3, Marsabit 2, Vihiga 2, Tharaka Nithi 1 and Elgeyo Marakwet 1.<\/p>\n<p><b>Vaccination<\/b><\/p>\n<p>By August 5, a total of 1,768,519 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses are 1,084,013 while second doses are 684,506.<\/p>\n<p>The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose is at 63.1 per cent with the majority being males at 55 per cent while females are at 45 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 2.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p><b>Edited by CM<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
