Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Central Organization for Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, on Saturday, August 7, asked security officers along the Kenya – Uganda border to be more vigilant by inspecting movement of goods into the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the burial of Tabitha Atiwno, the wife of COTU Deputy Secretary General, Atwoli accused Deputy President William Ruto of smuggling weapons from the neighbouring country.<\/p>\n

Atwoli questioned why the DP was traveling out of the country without clearance from his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

“We will not allow Kenyans to kill each other. All these things you are hearing about Uganda. Security agents should be cautious and check the imports at the Kenya – Uganda border, all containers because some are carrying weapons,” implied Atwoli.<\/p>\n

“Weapons are being brought into the country, and I am prepared to write a statement on that.”<\/p>\n

On July 19, Atwoli made similar allegations insinuating that the Deputy President was preparing to cause civil unrest in the event he loses the 2022 presidential polls which he (Ruto) has expressed interest in participating in.<\/p>\n

The DP has been on the spot since he was blocked from traveling to Uganda on Monday, August 2.<\/p>\n

He has since indicated that he was blocked from leaving the country due to leadership differences between him and pro-President Uhuru Kenyatta allies.<\/p>\n

During the burial, Atwoli also insisted that Siaya Senator James Orengo, who was part of the defence team in the BBI Bill appeal, had won despite the outcome although the matter has not been pronounced upon by the court.<\/p>\n

He stated that it would be questionable if Orengo lost any case.<\/p>\n

“If Orengo loses a case, don’t bother looking for another lawyer. The High Court ruling was political, it was not connected to BBI. I’m sure the Court of Appeal will make the right ruling,” he continued.<\/p>\n

The Court of Appeal will deliver its judgement on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) appeal case on August 20, 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
