Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>University students have issued a two-week ultimatum to Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, to resolve the mysterious death of the two Kianjokoma brothers.<\/p>\n

Vice Chair of the Universities President’s Council, Jennifer Mukami Mbogo, on Thursday, August 12, demanded the immediate arrest, charging and conviction of suspected killers of Benson Njiru and his brother Emmanuel Mutura.<\/p>\n

Mbogo warned that students would stage nationwide demonstrations after the burial of the duo to pressure the Matiang’i-led Ministry to speed up investigations and conclude the matter.<\/p>\n

The two brothers will be interred today, Friday, August 13 at their parents home in Kithangari, Embu County. University students cautioned the police from attending the funeral.<\/p>\n

“We have lost so many students while in school, and now the police have followed them to their homes. We will not keep quiet and watch as they die,” Mbogo declared.<\/p>\n

The duo’s father, however, urged the students to exercise caution as the CS had assured him that he had personally taken over the case.<\/p>\n

John Ndwiga met CS Matiang’i, Attorney General Kihara Kariuki and Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, on Wednesday, August 11.<\/p>\n

“The CS told us he had a lot of pressure from the president to act on the issue and have it concluded as soon as possible,” noted Ndwiga.<\/p>\n

“He told us his 19 and 22-year-old children were pestering him at home as they enquired what he had done as the person in charge of security.”<\/p>\n

Political leaders led by Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, neighbours, friends and comrades kept night vigil on Thursday, August 12.<\/p>\n
