Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, and his Mathira counterpart, Rigathi Gachagu, have led a section of leaders from the Mt Kenya region in castigating President Uhuru Kenyatta over is implied endorsement of opposition chief, Raila Odinga, as his preferred successor.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Friday, August 13, Kuria and Gachagua accused the president of holding meetings with the opposition without involving the Mt Kenya leaders despite them having campaigned for him during the 2013 and 2017 General Elections.<\/p>\n

The leaders accused the President of trying to impose the Orange Democratic Leader on the Mt Kenya voters, saying they will shoot down any plans to do so.<\/p>\n

“The President does not recognise us and we shall not accept Raila Odinga who wants to succeed him,” said Kuria.<\/p>\n

“As leaders from Mt Kenya region, we have made up our minds to support Ruto, and the President should not bother selling Odinga in this region.”<\/p>\n

Kuria promised to rally the Mt Kenya region behind Ruto.<\/p>\n

“Ruto is a good man and we shall ensure all Mt Kenya region residents rally behind him,” added the Gatundu South legislator.<\/p>\n

Gachagua, on the other hand, accused the government led by Uhuru of neglecting the Mt Kenya region pointing out that people from the region were being kidnapped, killed and evicted from their homes yet the government they voted in three times remains silent.<\/p>\n

“Our people are being killed by the police and their houses demolished yet the President is quiet. Our people are tired of this government and Ruto, who has stood with us, will form the next government,” said Gachagua.<\/p>\n

Nominated MP, Cecily Mbarire, said only Ruto responded to the cries of the bereaved family and the people of Embu will reciprocate by voting for him in the next polls.<\/p>\n

The leaders gave the government a seven-day ultimatum to bring to book those who murdered the two Embu brothers, now popularly referred to as the Kianjokoma Brothers.<\/p>\n

The victims, Emmanuel Mutura, 19, and Benson Njiru 22, were found dead after being arrested by police during curfew hours at Kianjokoma town.<\/p>\n
