Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Hashim Musa Yussuf, a secondary school teacher in Wajir county, has been nominated as the deputy governor for Wajir County.<\/p>\n

Yussuf was nominated as the deputy governor by Governor Ahmed Mukhtar after the seat fell vacant. Governor Mukhtar, the immediate former deputy governor, was sworn in as the governor of Wajir County after the impeachment of Mohamud Mohamed.<\/p>\n

Before his nomination as the deputy governor, Yussuf served as the principal of Ahmed Liban Secondary school.<\/p>\n

Previously, he served as the principal of Khorof Harar secondary school and as a teacher at Sabunley Secondary School in Wajir County.<\/p>\n

Yussuf, an educationist, also serves as the chairman of the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association chairman of Wajir County.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Yussuf welcomed his nomination and stated that his focus will be on issues of drug abuse, health care, and unemployment among the youths in the county.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will focus on issues such as drug and substance abuse, unemployment, and health care,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

In 2017, the educationist contested for the position of member of parliament for Wajir East, but shelved his political ambitions in favour of Rashid Kassim.<\/p>\n

Yussuf\u2019s name has been forwarded to the Wajir\u2019s County Assembly for vetting and approval by Governor Mukhtar.<\/p>\n

On his part, Governor Mukhtar stated that he was sure that the county assembly will approve the nomination of Yussuf because of his capabilities and his reputation as an educationist in the county.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m looking forward to him joining me so that we can work and deliver to the great people of Wajir. Yussuf is a gentleman. I have known him for a long time and I know what he is capable of. He ticks all the boxes and I am sure he will not disappoint,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

If this nomination is approved, Yussuf will serve as Wajir County deputy governor for only 11 months until the 2022 General Election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
