Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto has commented on the failure of One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to settle on a presidential candidate for the upcoming August 2022 poll.<\/p>\n

Speaking at an event in his Karen residence on Wednesday, August 18, the second in command took a swipe at OKA principals for failing to reach an agreement on who their flag bearer will be.<\/p>\n

Ruto met and held a consultative meeting with more than 600 Nairobi political aspirants interested in vying on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.<\/p>\n

He gleefully wondered why OKA had failed to reach an agreement and accused them of using tribal arithmetics.<\/p>\n

“We have two sets of competitors. We have one group that is still struggling with tribalism, they run tribal parties. They can not even agree on a candidate because everyone has gone to the party with their tribal chief,” he opined.<\/p>\n

The DP also took a swipe at ODM leader Raila Odinga, claiming that his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta had borne no fruits in the advancement of Jubilee’s agendas.<\/p>\n

Ruto insisted that Raila’s handshake was inconsequential, arguing that there was no problem between Kenyans that required a handshake to solve, except their desire for the country to advance economically and create jobs.<\/p>\n

“Today, we are the net losers. We lost the ruling party, we lost the opposition party, we lost the development programme under Big Four, and now lost this big charade called ‘BBI’…we lost four years which could have been used to do something meaningful,” lamented Ruto.<\/p>\n

OKA met in Naivasha on Tuesday, August 17, in a meeting where many expected would culminate in substantial progress, and perhaps the announcement of its chosen flag bearer for the upcoming presidential elections.<\/p>\n

Reports that ODM leader would also travel to Naivasha had many picturing a monumental achievement in President Uhuru’s attempt to unite the former Prime Minister with OKA.<\/p>\n

The meeting, however, did not happen as Raila and OKA principals held separate meetings. The ODM leader enjoyed an excellent welcome in Nakuru County, and addressed the crowd, revealing that he had come up with a grand plan to solve the issues of ailing Kenyans.<\/p>\n
