Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>More than 40 coaches completed a CAF D coaching course at Rowallan Camp in Nairobi on Friday.<\/p>\n

The course was organized by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nairobi West branch in conjunction with Kibra MP Imran Okoth.<\/p>\n

FKF National Executive Committee member Chris Amimo handed over the certificates to the duly trained and certified coaches after the intensive course.<\/p>\n

Former Harambee Stars defender Eric Masika was among the coaches who attended the training. Masika started his football career in 2009 and played as a defender for both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.<\/p>\n

After retiring as a footballer, he started coaching in Kibra where he used his knowledge as a player to help empower some of the young footballers in the area. However, this was not enough for him as he needed training as a backup.<\/p>\n

This is why he had to join the class under the tutelage of FIFA\/FKF Instructors Leonard Odipo and George Mwangi.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting this opportunity as a former player is a very big step for me and I want to thank FKF for making it happen. At least former players have a platform to advance to the next step of their football careers and improving the quality of play at the grassroots, \u201d said Masika.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe skills I have received will make a big difference in the work I am trying to do especially with the young kids in Kibera. I am in a stronger position to build a team and help these players grow,\u201d he told the federation\u2019s official portal.<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThere are plenty of young people with the desire to play and even the talent but there is no one to nurture them and give them a strong football foundation.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
