Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto says the Judiciary’s ruling halting Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) has given the country a golden chance to re-evaluate Kenya\u2019s development priorities.<\/p>\n

Ruto has urged leaders from across the political divide to work together to get the country back on its growth path.<\/p>\n

“Now, let us agree to embark on the plans that we had like the Big Four that had been stalled by BBI,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

He spoke on Sunday during church services at Anglican Church of Kenya St Luke’s Church Wang’uru and AIPCA Rurii Church in Kirinyaga County.<\/p>\n

The Deputy President urged MPs to set aside their political differences and enact the NHIF Act to enable the country achieve Universal Health Care.<\/p>\n

“We cannot move forward as a country at this point in time without a solid plan on how every Kenyan will be vaccinated, ” he said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ruto appealed to the Opposition to allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to serve Kenyans asking them to look for an alliance elsewhere.<\/p>\n

He said opposition leaders should seek a manifesto that they will sell to Kenyans.<\/p>\n

The DP said the collapse of BBI was a lesson to the country’s leadership not to misuse their positions of power to serve their own interests.<\/p>\n

On Friday, Court of Appeal upheld the High Court ruling that BBI is null and void and its processes were unconstitutional.<\/p>\n

When he broke his silence on the ruling on Saturday Ruto said the judges had brought the voice of Wanjiku to life.<\/p>\n

He lauded the courts for affirming that Kenya is governed by the rule of law and not the rule of men.<\/p>\n

Ruto said the judges had bravely defended the Constitution.<\/p>\n

“The people have won, the Constitution has won and the rule of law has prevailed,” Ruto said during a press conference at his Karen office.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
