Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Vice-Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Wambui Nyutu has withdrawn her name from being considered as a replacement for the Senate seat left vacant by the fallen nominated Senator Victor Prengei.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old lawyer on Wednesday, August 25, explained that she would not be pursuing the nomination since she is content serving at the NCIC where she is also making a difference.<\/p>\n

Further, Nyutu maintained that she was keen on serving Kenyans in Parliament and when the time comes she would make her plans public.<\/p>\n

“I am the serving Vice Chairperson of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC). A position that I hold dear and that which, even in the good Book of our Lord, comes with a promise,” Nyutu stated.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, Nyutu urged Jubilee Party to nominate a young person who has shown dedication and character to take up the responsibility of serving Kenyans.<\/p>\n

“It is and has been my desire to represent my fellow Kenyans in Parliament someday and when the time comes, I shall be keen to make it known.”<\/p>\n

“In the spirit of empowering our talented and zealous youth, I beseech Jubilee party to offer the position to a deserving Youth who has demonstrated exemplar character and vibrance to serve the country and its people,” the NCIC vice chairperson announced.<\/p>\n

If the youthful millionaire were to take up the role in the Senate, she would have had to resign from her role as NCIC commissioner to avoid conflict of interest.<\/p>\n

Nyutu and Prengei were the only names submitted by the Jubilee Party to represent the youth in the Senate which meant she was likely to be the successor.<\/p>\n

The IEBC picks the next name from the party lists which are submitted before a General Election in the event of expulsion or unfortunate circumstances such as death and incapacitation.<\/p>\n

The list is submitted before each General Election but the party may be allowed to give a fresh name if it exhausts the names in the list.<\/p>\n

The development would mean that the IEBC will likely allow Jubilee Party to make fresh nominations for another youth to serve the remainder of Prengei’s term.<\/p>\n
