Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Kenyan champions, Tusker FC, have brought experienced custodian Patrick Matasi back into their fold.<\/p>\n

The former Harambee Stars first-choice custodian, who last donned the national team colours during the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, penned a two-year contract with the side on Saturday. He will don the number 34 jersey.<\/p>\n

Matasi, 33, rejoins Tusker after a three-year stint with the Ethiopian side of St. George. He first signed up for the brewers in June 2018 from Posta Rangers before landing a deal with St. George three months later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really happy to be back at Tusker and it\u2019s a great pleasure for me. I was here for only three months then left and for me to come back means there is something I didn\u2019t fulfill as a player. I am here to work and help the team prosper and achieve its targets,\u201d said Matasi.<\/p>\n

\u201cI come into a great team which has achieved a lot. Tusker has won the league and qualified to represent the country in the Caf Champions League and this means a lot to me as a player. I have to work and fight to defend the badge of the club,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Tusker chairman Dan Aduda said they were happy with Matasi\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really excited to land Matasi and he will add immense competition in our goalkeeping department. He has been here before, he knows the fabric of the club and it will not be hard for him to adjust.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tusker chief executive officer, Charles Obiny, said Matasi was the missing piece needed to construct a lethal outfit that would charge effectively for the forthcoming Confederation of African Football Champions League.<\/p>\n

\u201cMatasi\u2019s experience will be vital for the goalkeeping department.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has played at big levels within club level and the national team and he is a huge addition to the squad,\u201d said Obiny.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
