Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Betika, the leading sports gaming firm in Kenya, is at the forefront of changing the lives of grassroots football players.<\/p>\n

The firm, which is the official sponsor of the 3rd Edition of the GrandPa tournament that will be held in Kibera and dubbed Betika Na GrandPa 1 Milli Super Cup, has heavily invested in nurturing talent through Sports, Arts and Culture.<\/p>\n

The Betika Na GrandPa 1 Milli Super Cup, which will see the winner take home Ksh350,000 courtesy of Betika, is aimed at creating a memorable Betika BTL experience.<\/p>\n

The GrandPa Super Cup football tournament will have a pool of 64 teams in Nairobi comprising 48 male and 16 female teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the heart of the community, sports is a way of life with the vision of getting a better life. One of the most striking things about observing the grassroots players during their training is their enthusiasm, something that is inspired by football but not confined to it,\u201d said Noah Yusuf, popularly known as Refigah, the founder of GrandPA records.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of these players are rarely supported or even encouraged in their lives to participate in the tournaments, but Betika has provided them with the most needed support, giving them a sense of confidence that will be critical in helping them improve their own lives,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The selected 64 teams will compete in a 12-week long tournament that kicks off at the end of September to mid December. The tournament further aims at supporting the teams in their quest to reach the national league levels.<\/p>\n

Football Kenya Federation Nairobi West branch chairperson, Caleb Malweyi, called upon industry players to join Betika in ensuring that sportsmen and women get the necessary support in their careers, noting that football in Kenya had grown in admirable proportions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also call upon other industry players and sports stakeholders to join Betika in building Kenyan sportsmen and women and supporting our own. Football in Kenya is improving and the Football Kenya Federation has always been committed to ensuring that it develops even further,\u201d he noted, revealing a plan to hold mentorship clinics for the players.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur plan is to have a 3-day mentorship and training session where we will have all the coaches and team goalkeepers taken through a serious mentorship program from our celebrity footballers in conjunction with Betika.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the mentorship sessions, Malweyi noted that the industry players \u201cwill be able to identify, nurture and expose talents amongst the players and mould the team into responsible members of the community\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are happy with the strides \u2018Betika Na Community\u2019 is making in transforming the lives of our youth,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Betika Public Relations Manager, Kate Arudo, noted that sports have the unique power to celebrate Kenya\u2019s common humanity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt brings people together \u2013 allowing them to meet each other and share a common love for the game, compete on equal terms, follow the same rules and respect differences even in competition,\u201d said Arudo.<\/p>\n
