Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday, September 12, described himself as a survivor who had been shielded from many tribulations because of his belief in God.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a church service at the Global Cathedral Church in Lang\u2019ata, the DP highlighted gave himself the new title – adding to the politically charged and self-styled hustler brand.<\/p>\n

He noted that a while back while in Mombasa as other people referred to him as either \u2018mheshimwa\u2019(honourable) or hustler – one man referred to him as a survivor.<\/p>\n

He noted that the man is about the only person who has ever identified him as a survivor until the preacher at the service made reference to his tribulations and the role God had played in uplifting him.<\/p>\n

\u201cUntil today I have realised I am a survivor maybe that gentleman in Mombasa was right and it is true that God had to step in many times for us to be where we are today\u201d the DP highlighted.<\/p>\n

The deputy president also donated Ksh1 million to facilitate the church to buy tents as the church seeks to move to its own premises.<\/p>\n

He also noted that the hustler narrative, in the beginning, was thought of as an abusive narrative but at the moment the narrative has created a revolution in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut today the hustler movement has actually created a revolution in Kenya. The hustler movement has transcended communities and regions and is the largest movement in Kenya of very ordinary people, and many people did not expect that the next leader of Kenya was going to come from the most unlikely quarters at the hustler movement\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Ruto also stated that in the coming future, the solution for the challenges that face Kenya will come from the most unlikely quarters.<\/p>\n

The DP also hit out at those who opposed the wheelbarrow as a symbol of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those who have problems with the simplicity of the wheelbarrow they can as well tell us about the complexity of the orange,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The DP also addressed the youths of the country referring to them as the single largest community in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201c70 per cent of our nation is the young people.in their hearts, in their talents, in their efforts, in their knowledge is the solution to the challenges we face as a nation and they need to stand up and be counted as the young people of our nation,” Ruto noted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
