Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has refuted claims that they are planning to get into a coalition pact with Kilifi Governor, Amason Kingi’s new party, Pamoja Alliance Party (PAA).<\/p>\n

The party released a statement on their social media platforms on Friday, September 17, rubbishing claims that Raila is in talks with Kingi over future political endeavours.<\/p>\n

In what looks like an attempt to endear himself to Raila for possible reconciliation after their acrimonious fallout, Kingi recently said Deputy President William Ruto and his allies in United Democratic Alliance (UDA) approached him for a possible coalition but he turned them down.<\/p>\n

The governor, through his brother Michael Kingi who is also the MP for Kilifi South, had claimed that PAA has recruited members, opened new offices and it was just a matter of time before the launch at the end of the month, with ODM leader as Chief Guest.<\/p>\n

ODM was, however, swift to deny any links or talks with Kingi, even as he struggles to find bearing after other senior politicians from the coast refused to join him in forming a regional party after he left the orange party.<\/p>\n

The move to form his own party did not sit well with the ODM party. In August 2021 ODM party replaced Kingi with Teddy Mwambireas the chairman of Kilifi county.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m used to being used. Kingi has no solutions to the problems facing the coastal people. I think power has gone into his head,\u201d Raila said, accusing Kingi of betrayal.<\/p>\n

Raila lamented further, adding that were it not for his move to have Kingi appointed as minister, he would not have become the popular politician he is today.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was (a popular political figure) in Kilifi long before Kingi shot to political fame. Had I not appointed him as a minister, probably no one would have known about him,\u201d Raila fumed, even as he said that Kingi was free to form his own party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
