These include the section along Imara Daima and the section at the Southern by-pass junction.

KeNHA will also open up lanes that were previously closed at Syokimau and Mlolongo areas.

Other interventions to ease traffic menace include the improvement of two-directional U-turns at various points such as Mlolongo (Allpack) and blocking of unauthorized U-turns that caused congestion.

The authority will also ensure continuous watering of the construction sites to reduce the rise of dust and widen the angles at diversion points like at the Allpack area to ease vehicle movement.

KeNHA, however, cautioned that the sections of the road where traffic congestion could still be experienced, include areas currently under intervention.

These are the General Motors area where a new footbridge is being installed and Bunyala roundabout, and Uhuru Highway where hosting of box girders is still ongoing.

“KeNHA would like to appreciate all motorists on the patience exercised during the implementation of these interventions.”

“The schedule provides projected opening dates for the closed sections to ease the current traffic situations,” Muchilwa stated.

The schedule being referred to is as follows:

The JKIA – Mlolongo Road section will be restored and fully opened on September 30.

Westlands – James Gichuru will also be restored on the same date.

Haile-Sellasie – UoN roundabout will be opened on October 15.

Muchilwa added that the construction of bridges currently stands at 75.7 per cent.

“Motorists are urged to exercise caution and road courtesy while driving as this will help manage traffic better,” the Director General urged.

Africa-Press – Kenya.
