Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Nakuru Governor, Lee Kinyanjui, on Tuesday, September 21, revealed that he has never voted for former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, in the past elections but was considering doing so in the 2022 polls.<\/p>\n

Kinyanjui, who was attending a burial ceremony with Raila in Nakuru, stated that he would support the former Premier because of the support the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader has accorded President Uhuru Kenyatta during his second term in office.<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I have voted five to six times. All those years, I have never voted for Raila, but in the coming year, I see that changing,” the Nakuru Governor stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sat down and realized that when we (Jubilee) were in trouble, you (Raila) are the only person who came to our rescue,\u201d Kinyanjui added.<\/p>\n

The first-time governor thanked Raila for his support of President Uhuru, stating that the ODM leader had the best interest of the country at heart.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe say that undungu si kufanana, undugu ni kufaana (brotherhood is not being alike, brotherhood is being there for each other). When we needed you, you were there. You kept the country going, the bills in Parliament were being passed because of you,\u201d Kinyanjui stated.<\/p>\n

Kinyanjui further hit out at leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto accusing them of abandoning the President when he needed them the most.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe moment those we voted for decided to turn against Uhuru, you came along and shook hands with the President to ensure that the government functions effectively,\u201d Kinyanjui added.<\/p>\n

He went further to ask the crowd to support the presidential ambitions of the ODM party leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cWill we forget such a person?\u201d the governor asked.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Raila affirmed that he was focused on his presidential bid, and asked the Mt Kenya region to back his political ambition as equal partners.<\/p>\n

“I have come here to seek partners, not followers. We will work together as partners to ensure that we clinch power,\u201d Raila stated.<\/p>\n
