Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at a group of tycoons who were instrumental in funding Jubilee’s 2017 campaigns.<\/p>\n

The tycoons came together and contributed towards the Uhuru-Ruto presidency ticket and raised Ksh1 billion in a two-hour event that was held at a city hotel.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, October 2, DP Ruto stated that the tycoons who have orchestrated a plot against his 2022 Presidential bid will not make him lose sleep.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Nakuru County, Ruto called on his supporters to join the United Democratic Alliance. He also poured cold water on President Uhuru Kenyatta’s alliance with ODM leader Raila Odinga noting that they have not accomplished much.<\/p>\n

The DP also talked down on the Building Bridges Initiative which was the brainchild of the two leaders stating that it was meant to give the president more powers.<\/p>\n

He stated that his mission was to unite people who are disadvantaged in society and as Nakuru residents to elect people who understand the bottom-up economic approach.<\/p>\n

However, In 2017, Ruto was a beneficiary of the billionaires club that held a fundraiser where a plate of food went for Ksh1 million.<\/p>\n

The dinner organised by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) known as the Friends of Jubilee Foundation, was held at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

It later emerged that bigwigs from the Mt Kenya Foundation (MKF) were funding the dinner where the highest cadre parted with Ksh10 million for the platinum package.<\/p>\n

This was followed by the Gold category that contributed less than Ksh10 million but above Ksh5 million. There was the Silver category that donated about Ksh2.5 million, the Bronze at Ksh1 million and the last group donated Ksh500,000.<\/p>\n

Business tycoon Peter Munga chairs the MFK and he is deputised by former PS and Lapsset boss and founder of Bell Industries Titus Ibui.<\/p>\n

Uhuru’s maternal uncle former Cabinet minister George Muhoho, media mogul SK Macharia, banking tycoon James Mwangi, energy boss Eddy Njoroge, businessmen Stanley Kinyanjui, Isaac Maina and Pius Ngugi are part of this exclusive club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
