Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Kikuyu Council of Elders secretary general Peter Munga has resigned to focus on his outfit dubbed Save Our Men Initiative trust.<\/p>\n

Munga held the position for eight years. Speaking to Star on Friday, he said he felt the need to form an organisation that will advocate the wellbeing of men across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI humbly tender my resignation from the position of secretary general of the Kikuyu Council of Elders Association Trust,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said Save Our Men Initiative will focus on the entire country. He said they will ensure that they care for the male child through all their socio-psychological development stages.<\/p>\n

Munga said excessive alcohol and drug abuse among young and older Kenyan men have left society with a threatened future.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt SOMI Trust, we address the needs of the male gender from primary schoolboys to adult men who are becoming increasingly a neglected group in Kenyan society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kikuyu Council of Elders national chairman Wachira wa Kiago said the national governing council is in the process of recruiting Munga’s replacement.<\/p>\n

He said Munga’s request to resign has already been accepted but maintained that he will still be a member of the council.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has indeed resigned to focus on his personal development, but we are planning to hold for him a farewell party to appreciate him,\u201d Kiago said.<\/p>\n

Munga’s resignation comes three weeks after the Kikuyu Council of Elders (Kiama Kiama) installed Kinyua Mwangi as its national patron.<\/p>\n
