Africa-Press<\/a> – Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been dealt a blow after his candidate emerged last in the Masumba Ward by-elections held on Thursday, October 14.<\/p>\n

This is after Timothy Sirei Maneno, an independent candidate, knocked out both the Wiper Democratic Movement and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants.<\/p>\n

Maneno, who was supported by Makueni Governor, Kivutha Kibwana, emerged victorious after garnering 2,902 votes out of the total 6,776 votes cast.<\/p>\n

The UDA candidate, Daniel Masau, followed closely with 2,219 votes, while Wiper\u2019s Eshio Maundu Mwaiwa came last with 1,614 votes.<\/p>\n

Upon the announcement of the results, Kalonzo praised the victor and congratulated all the candidates for their bravery.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe take tis early opportunity to congratulate Timothy Maneno on winning the Nguu\/Masumba Ward seat as an independent candidate.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also thank the other candidates, including our Wiper candidate Eshio Mwaiwa and UDA\u2019s Daniel Masau for putting up a brave contest to capture the seat,\u201d Kalonzo\u2019s statement read in part.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo, further condemned the altercation that was experienced in some parts of the ward during the mini polls, saying it was unnecessary and against Wiper\u2019s ethics.<\/p>\n

Notably, he said that although they are obliged to respect the people\u2019s decision, this will not stop him from calling out politicians involved in graft.<\/p>\n

UDA party leader, William Ruto, also congratulated the candidates for their bravery, pointing out that UDA did well and showed that they are breaking tribal barriers.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations Daniel Musau of UDA Kenya for the sterling performance at the just concluded Nguu\/Masumba Ward by-election.”<\/p>\n
