{"id":37536,"date":"2021-10-20T15:45:03","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T15:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=37536"},"modified":"2021-10-20T14:45:13","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T14:45:13","slug":"eastleigh-syndicate-busted-for-printing-fake-official-documents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/eastleigh-syndicate-busted-for-printing-fake-official-documents","title":{"rendered":"Eastleigh Syndicate Busted for Printing Fake Official Documents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers on Tuesday, October 19, arrested a six-gang syndicate in Eastleigh, Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p>The gang which operates on 1st avenue 3rd street, has been involved in processing fake documents, and selling them to the public.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement given by the DCI officers, they were able to ambush the gang with the help of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit backed up by Cybercrime detectives.<\/p>\n<p>The officers launched the operation after receiving information from the public via their hotline, FichuakwaDCI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActing on information received via our FichuakwaDCI hotline, detectives from the Transnational Organized Crime Unit backed up by Cybercrime sleuths stormed the office and recovered a bunch of fake documents that had been illegally processed,\u201d noted the DCI.<\/p>\n<p>Among the documents illegally processed were national identification cards, refugee registration documents and academic certificates.<\/p>\n<p>While sharing the information on their social media handles, the detectives established that they were able to recover a bunch of fake documents and seized the computers used in the processing.<\/p>\n<p>The detectives further explained that they were the same people who have been aiding the entry of refugees into the country.<\/p>\n<p>They are currently being questioned at the Kiambu DCI offices, as they wait to be presented before the court on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, DCI has warned Kenyans from engaging in such activities, saying they endanger the security of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Directorate of Criminal Investigations cautions Kenyans engaged in this kind of trade that their actions pose a very serious threat to the public safety and security of their fellow Kenyans,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>They have maintained that such actions will not be condoned because it is not only illegal, but immoral as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
