{"id":37635,"date":"2021-10-21T17:27:42","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T17:27:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=37635"},"modified":"2021-10-21T15:06:11","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T15:06:11","slug":"kenya-airways-standard-chartered-bank-shortlisted-for-african-tech-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/kenya-airways-standard-chartered-bank-shortlisted-for-african-tech-awards","title":{"rendered":"Kenya Airways, Standard Chartered Bank shortlisted for African tech awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\">Kenya<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya Airways, Standard Chartered Bank and MultiChoice Kenya are among 160 companies that have been shortlisted for Africa CIO100 Awards, dubbed the Oscars of the tech world.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the completion of the first phase of the technical analysis of data from which the CIO100 top companies in Africa will be chosen.<\/p>\n<p>The technical team analyzed the CIO100 2021 Survey data gathered over the past three months.<\/p>\n<p>536 companies from across Africa submitted applications with the majority, 35 per cent coming from Kenya , with noteworthy numbers from Nigeria (15 per cent), Uganda (7 per cent), and Rwanda (3 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>In presenting a status report of the research, Samuel Gicharu, CEO, Insight Wells Research detailed the approach adopted in selecting the top 160 companies and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA common feature across all excellence models is the general structure of the assessment tool\/questionnaire. The participating organizations are assessed using a model that emphasizes the relationship between two key aspects: business processes and business results,\u201d Gicharu said<\/p>\n<p>He explained that organizations are assessed on their ability to not only deliver results today but also to build on sustainably by creating a culture of continuous improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Other notable entries into the shortlist include Dangote Projects \u2013 Nigeria, Unga Holdings, Credit Bank, Kemri-Welcome Trust, CLC-Africa \u2013 Tanzania, AzamPay \u2013 Tanzania, Somika Group \u2013 Congo, Platino Group \u2013 Egypt, WasilaDev \u2013 Egypt, Gebeya \u2013 Ethiopia, Berhan Bank \u2013 Ethiopia, Zemen Bank \u2013 Ethiopia, MCCC Cloud \u2013 Mauritius.<\/p>\n<p>The top CIO100 companies will be announced during the annual Africa CIO100 Symposium and Awards event in Mombasa from 17-19 November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the 13th edition of the event, and we are very excited that we will now be recognizing 100 companies from across Africa that demonstrate excellence and achievement in IT adoption and execution.\u201d said CIO Africa Director, Andrew Karanja.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, there were 350 companies nominated with 120 making up the year\u2019s CIO100 list.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya.
