Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Nairobi Governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has expressed optimism despite the court dismissing his petition seeking to bar deputy governor, Anne Kananu, from taking the oath of office as the substance city boss.<\/p>\n

Taking to his social media handles on Friday, October 22, Sonko appealed to his supporters not to be worried as the matter is still in court.<\/p>\n

He stated that there is still light at the end of the tunnel because he will lodge a complaint at the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no problem. My petition has been dismissed, but our case is still on. We shall be at the Court of Appeal in November,\u201d the former Nairobi governor mentioned.<\/p>\n

Sonko further mentioned that what the court directs must be respected and the only way to challenge such directives is through an appeal at a higher court.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe court has decided that and we respect our Judiciary. For now, that\u2019s how things are and life and has to go on,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

Sonko hilariously proceeded to urge his fans to take advantage of the fact the President had lifted the curfew and have fun instead of worrying.<\/p>\n

“There’s no problem with that. Let\u2019s take advantage that the curfew has been vacated and have fun instead of dwelling on things that have already happened,\u201d the ex-governor stated.<\/p>\n

Sonko\u2019s sentiments came moments after the court threw out his petition seeking to bar deputy governor Anne Kananu from taking the oath of office and replace him.<\/p>\n

He wanted an order issued, which would restrain any county official from taking the office, pending the hearing and determination of his appeal.<\/p>\n

In the ruling made on Friday, October 22, the court declared that Acting Governor, Anne Kananu, should be sworn in as the new Nairobi county boss.<\/p>\n

Kananu will now be the governor of Nairobi until the next general elections, which are 10 months away.<\/p>\n
