Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>As Kenya approaches the 2022 general elections, various presidential hopefuls have been making promises to the public that they intend to execute once elected to office.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, October 27, Presidential hopeful, Speaker Justin Muturi, during an online engagement with Kenyans, tabled down his promises once elected president.<\/p>\n

Muturi noted that once elected, the youth from university will be guaranteed internships in both the private and public sector.<\/p>\n

He added that the youth will scoop a majority of appointments at all levels in his government.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always said that in my government the youth will form the majority of appointments at all levels. Youth from universities will be guaranteed internships in the public and private sector and will have incentives to absorb them into their workforce,\u201d Muturi\u2019s tweet read.<\/p>\n

Further, Muturi reacted to a question posed at him on how he would mark his first 100 days in office once elected president.<\/p>\n

\u201cRestructuring civil service and improving financial flow by stopping government-local bank borrowing,\u201d Muturi responded.<\/p>\n

Previously, during the 2017 General election campaign period, President Uhuru Kenyatta had also made similar promises regarding a proposed internship program.<\/p>\n

During that period, President Uhuru noted that the graduate internship programme, would see all graduates from universities and technical institutes absorbed by government and the private sector for a period of 12 to 18 months.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeginning next year, university, polytechnic and technical training institute students will be offered a one to one-and-a-half-year paid internship,\u201d the President stated previously.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Government had announced that 2,421 university graduates would be positioned to various government ministries departments and agencies under the State internship programme.<\/p>\n

However, the government has not yet implemented this, leading to growing concern among young people.<\/p>\n
