Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President Uhuru Kenyatta has sacked former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President, Allen Gichuhi, from a top government job just a month after making the appointment.<\/p>\n

Through a Gazette Notice dated Friday, October 29, Uhuru revoked the appointment of Gichuhi as a chairperson of the Industrial Property Tribunal.<\/p>\n

This is a huge blow as he had begun his tenure at the helm of the tribunal and was served for a period of three years. This simply means he only walked home with September’s salary only.<\/p>\n

The announcement of the sacking was made public by Cabinet Secretary, Industrialization, Trade, and Enterprise Development, Betty Maina. But the reason for his sacking was not immediately made public.<\/p>\n

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 113 (1) and (2) of the Industrial Property Act, as read together with section 51 of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade, and Enterprise Development revokes the appointment of\u2014 Allen Gichuhi as Chairperson of the Industrial Property Tribunal,” the Gazette Notice read.<\/p>\n

He served as the 48th President of the LSK where he left a legacy of reform, innovation, and international collaboration. He was elected as LSK President in February 2018 taking over from Isaac Okero.<\/p>\n

Gichuhi is a leading Litigation Advocate with over 23 years of experience and is widely respected in the Banking and Corporate world for his unique Litigation skills and sharp grasp of the Law. He specialised in Commercial, Banking, and Administrative Law and is recognised for his impressive record in contentious matters.<\/p>\n

Nelson Havi took over from Gichuhi in 2020 after winning the much-contested elections. He floored other candidates including Maria Mbeneka, Charles Kanjama, and Harriet Chiggai.<\/p>\n

Others who lost their jobs include lawyer Ambrose Weda who was appointed to chair the Competition Tribunal less than a month ago.<\/p>\n

Kenya Ports Authority board member, Delilah Ngala, was moved to the Kenya Fishing Industries Corporation where she will serve alongside Johnson Kazungu, Lumumba Oyua, and Kanainza Daisy Nyongesa for three years.<\/p>\n

Sara Bonaya, a widow of former Foreign Affairs Minister, Bonaya Godana, was appointed chairperson of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).<\/p>\n
