Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji’s woes have proven to be far from over after members of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) accused him of making reckless utterances.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Monday, November 1, the lawyers, together with several clients who had filed petitions to have Haji removed from office, stated that such acts cannot be taken lightly, because they amount to threats.<\/p>\n

They stated that the remarks made by Haji on October 25, revealed that he is directly involved with the military, and that he should make it clear on exactly how that is.<\/p>\n

While addressing the press, lawyer Danstan Omari pointed out that it is against the rules of disciplined officers to disclose what they did while in their former posts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe speech by the DPP is of great concern. Noordin Haji disclosed that he went to Somalia and fought the Al-Shabaab.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe position, whether he went as the DPP or whether he went while working at the National Intelligence Service, raised very fundamental questions that are enough to make him leave office.<\/p>\n

“Under the rules of disciplined officers, you do not disclose what you did while in that office, but Haji has disclosed what he did while at the NIS,\u201d Omari stated.<\/p>\n

He proceeded to add that the statements made by Haji were a serious threat to them, because he was basically telling them that he has been to battle and has emerged victorious.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has confirmed that he went to Somalia and came back successfully, which is a serious threat to us who are filing petitions against him, because he is basically telling us that he is a war veteran, and has been successful on the battlefield,\u201d the lawyer remarked.<\/p>\n

In addition, Omari expressed that as a result of these remarks, they shall be moving to court to have Haji investigated, so that he can clearly explain his involvement with the military.<\/p>\n

He further stated that what the DPP did is a breach of the International Conventions of War, and it portrays Kenya\u2019s National Intelligence officers as people who spark wars in other countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall be moving to have the DPP investigated because that to us is a serious threat of how he has beaten Al-Shabaab in Somalia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are moving to have Haji summoned not as the DPP, but as the person who has beaten Al-Shabaab and has made the utterances threatening people that he is a war veteran, and nothing can be done to him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe International Conventions of War state that it is only the military who go to other countries to fight. How did Haji go to Somalia to fight? Will this cause Kenya problems that our Intelligence Service is going to other countries to fight?\u201d Omari posed.<\/p>\n

On October 25, Haji stated that he went to war against the Al-Shabaab and he will not be cowed by the three petitions before the Public Service Commission that threaten his removal from office.<\/p>\n
