Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The National Police Service on Friday, November 5, received 81 out of the 592 vehicles they are expected to receive from Toyota Kenya.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was held at the Kenya Motor Vehicle Assembly Plant in Thika, Kiambu County.<\/p>\n

“As Toyota Kenya, we are delighted to be here today as we further cement the partnership with the National Police Service under the vehicle leasing program,” Toyota Kenya Managing Director, Arvinder Reel, stated.<\/p>\n

The vehicles are set to serve the National Police Service for the enhancement of national security and service delivery to members of the public.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, the company’s managing director stated that he was proud to be part of the ecosystem that is keen on enhancing the security and service delivery to Kenyans.<\/p>\n

“The handover could not have come at a better time, we have joined the world in celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Landcruiser models,” he expressed.<\/p>\n

In addition to that, he stated that the vehicles are powerful and adventurous, further adding that the users could easily tackle the most difficult terrain.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was part of the fifth phase of the leasing program that sought to dispatch 592 new vehicles to the National Police Service over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

This comes three years after the fourth lease, which dispatched 800 new vehicles to the National Police Service in 2018.<\/p>\n

The National Police Service received the first tender for the initial 1,100 vehicles in 2013 and had the first batch released in December the same year.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the treasury in 2013, stated that the government will spend Ksh3 billion every year leasing 1,200 cars for the National Police Service.<\/p>\n

Leasing allows a client to use a vehicle for a fixed period of time, which could run up to five years while paying monthly fees as the dealer takes care of maintenance.<\/p>\n

This allows users of leased vehicles to avoid the high initial capital cost that would otherwise be incurred if they chose to buy the vehicle.<\/p>\n
