Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Justice, Martha Koome, has addressed the leaked videos by former Nairobi governor, Mike Sonko, which had damning allegations against High Court Judge, justice Said Chitembwe.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, November 18, CJ Koome stated that she had seen the videos shared on social media and the reports by a section of journalists and she was ready to take action.<\/p>\n

The CJ told the press that she will be meeting with the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), and they will discuss the matter before giving the next course of action.<\/p>\n

This comes hours after Justice Chitembwe in a KTN News interview defended himself over the videos leaked by Sonko, allegedly linking him to bribery.<\/p>\n

The Judge argued that the videos were edited to frame him, as he sought to clear his name from the leaks that have since gone viral on social media.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, November 16, Sonko released a video recording of a meeting with the Judge’s brother soliciting and receiving a bribe on behalf of the Judge. The video would become the topic of discussion across social media platforms and the mainstream media.<\/p>\n

Chitembwe went on to state that allegations labelled against him were doctored and tailored to suit a notion that he is not fit to hold office.<\/p>\n

Notably, there was a previous petition where two persons appealed to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to remove Chitembwe from the Judiciary.<\/p>\n

In the petition filed on Friday, September 3, Imgard Beige and David Leboo, cited prejudices in a succession case Justice Chitembwe presided over at the Malindi Law Courts.<\/p>\n

The petitioners said in court documents that they have credible information that the judge was influenced in order to dismiss the succession case they had filed and upheld the distribution of the contested property.<\/p>\n

According to the petitioners, even before the judgment was delivered, the property was transferred and registered in the name of the judge’s brother.<\/p>\n

Further, the petitioners claim that Justice Chitembwe used his brother as a proxy to acquire the property.<\/p>\n
