Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Tiger Woods posted a short video showing him hitting golf balls on a driving range on Sunday, nine months after the 15-time major champion suffered serious leg injuries that required surgery following a car crash in Southern California.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaking progress,\u201d Woods wrote in the caption to his Twitter post, which marked the first time he has been seen swinging a club since the February accident.<\/p>\n

The video will boost hopes that the 45-year-old American can return to competitive golf after the accident raised doubts about whether he could make another comeback. He previously had to take time out from the sport following a series of injury setbacks, including surgery on his back five times.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe LOVE to see it!,\u201d the U.S. Ryder Cup Team official Twitter account said in response to the video. \u201cKeep going @TigerWoods, we\u2019re all cheering for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ko Jin-young earned her second LPGA player of the year award after firing a sparkling final round nine-under 63 to defend her title at the CME Group Tour Championship in Tiburon on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old South Korean ended the year on a tear, winning five of the last nine LPGA tournaments she competed in and edging American Olympic gold medalist Nelly Korda for the player of the year award.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really great honor to get the player of the year … I\u2019m so proud of myself,\u201d Ko, who also took home the sport\u2019s biggest award in 2019, told reporters.<\/p>\n

Ko has recently been battling a left wrist injury that kept her practices to a minimum, but you would not know it as the two-time major champion carded 23-under 265 in Tiburon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t practice at all for this week, not even Monday or Tuesday,\u201d she said after earning her 12th tour victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I still played really well this week. I couldn\u2019t believe I was hitting every shot so straight and how every putt went in. It was cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ko began Sunday\u2019s round in a four-way tie for the lead and ended with a one-stroke win over Japan\u2019s Nasa Hataoka.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to make a lot of birdies on the front nine, and I made it,\u201d she said of her hot start, where she shot a 30 before making the turn.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I didn\u2019t look at the score board until 12 or 13. But I knew Nelly and Nasa were playing well, so I just wanted to keep within myself and not look at the score board or the other players.\u201d<\/p>\n
