Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nairobi Governor, Anne Kananu, has obtained court orders restraining her predecessor, Mike Sonko, from posting any further videos, comments, texts or materials implicating her in any wrongdoings.<\/p>\n

Kananu moved to court after the ousted governor released a series of video and audio recordings accusing her of colluding with other persons to destroy his political career and eventually remove him from office.<\/p>\n

Milimani Chief Magistrate, Justice H.K. Nyaga, while issuing the orders, certified the matter as urgent and and directed that the parties involved be served immediately.<\/p>\n

“Respondents by themselves are hereby restrained by an order of temporary injunction from further writing, printing, publishing, circulating, disseminating or causing to be written, printed, published, circulated, disseminated in any manner whatsoever any, audio and\/or video recordings, words and statements that are defamatory and\/or disparaging in any manner whatsoever to the Applicant,” ordered Justice Nyaga.<\/p>\n

The court warned that any disobedience or non – observance of the order, would result in penal consequences to the governor.<\/p>\n

“And further that if this order is not obeyed ; an application shall be made citing you and any other such person (s) disobeying for contempt of court seeking therein your detention and other punishment for you and such person (s) together with any remedy available.”<\/p>\n

Other than Kananu, the governor has been releasing a number of videos implicating various individuals including Justice Said Chitembwe and his former lawyer Cecil Miller.<\/p>\n

The Judiciary Service Commission (JSC) has since summoned Sonko to testify against the High Court Judge.<\/p>\n

“The attention of the JSC has been drawn to several video clips, social media posts, cellphone recordings released by you in which Hon. Justice Said Juma Chitembwe’s conduct as a judge has been brought to question.<\/p>\n

“This is therefore to notify you, pursuant to the provisions of Article 252 (3)(b) of the Constitution and section 42 part VIII of the Judicial Service Act No. 1 of 2011, that the JSC will require your personal attendance to testify as a witness in the aforesaid matter which will proceed for the oral hearing on Tuesday, December 14,” an excerpt from the letter read.<\/p>\n
