Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) has cautioned motorists against using a section of Uhuru Highway following heavy rains that caused flooding on Saturday morning, November 27.<\/p>\n

KENHA noted that the flooding has affected the roads around Nyayo Stadium and Bunyala roundabout, adding that a team had been deployed to look for a fixture.<\/p>\n

In a statement, KENHA noted that it deployed a team from the Nairobi Expressway project implementation to handle the situation.<\/p>\n

Motorists using the road were asked to use alternative roads since the construction works will lead to traffic snarl up and congestion on the busy highway that serves many areas of the Nairobi Metropolis.<\/p>\n

“Motorists are advised of flooding around Nyayo Stadium and Bunyala Roundabout sections. The Nairobi Expressway Project implementation team is working to address the problem and ease vehicular movement.”<\/p>\n

“Meanwhile, motorists are advised to avoid the section and use alternative routes. We regret the inconveniences caused,” the statement by KENHA read.<\/p>\n

Videos circulating on social media platforms showed intense flooding along Uhuru Highway with motorists having a hard time navigating through the ranging waters.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that there will be scattered rainfall in some parts of the country after Nairobi experienced heavy rainfall on Friday night, November 26.<\/p>\n

Regions that will experience rainfall include Nairobi, Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita-Taveta, Kiambu, Murang\u2019a, Kirinyaga, Meru, Embu and Tharaka.<\/p>\n

Other areas are Nyandarua, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kericho, Kajiado, Narok, Bomet, Nyamira, Kisii, Migori, Homa Bay, Busia, Nandi, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Bungoma, Lamu, Garissa , Tana River, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Isiolo and Moyale.<\/p>\n

The weatherman had last week stated that the country will not experience heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n

Met Director, Bernard Chanzu, noted that Kenya will experience occasionally scattered storms, followed by long dry spells noting that the country was in a drought spell will continue until the end of the year.<\/p>\n
