Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A showdown between Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru and Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici is looming ahead of Deputy President William Ruto’s visit slated for Sunday, November 28.<\/p>\n

The DP will be attending a church service at the ACK Kianyaga after which he will hold rallies in Kirinyaga, Kutus and Kerugoya towns.<\/p>\n

Both leaders have already published posters welcoming the DP in the county.<\/p>\n

Ruto’s visit comes at a time when the two leaders, who are both eyeing the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat, are flexing their muscles over who will win the United Democratic Alliance (UDA’s) nomination ticket.<\/p>\n

Waiguru recently decamped to the Ruto-led party with the hope of defending her gubernatorial seat while Ngirici has been a strong campaigner of the party, even disclosing that she had funded the DP.<\/p>\n

Since Waiguru decamped to the party, Ngirici disclosed that her relationship with the DP has deteriorated.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m, however, confident that my supporters will follow me, regardless of the pedestal I will be standing on.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolitics is akin to the game of chess; you must study it well as your next decision would determine whether you win or lose. I have now retreated to carefully study my options before I make my next political move,” she stated.<\/p>\n

Ngirici complained that she was involved in building the party at a time which Waiguru was opposing Ruto and popularising BBI across Kenya.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen her [BBI] mission failed, she crossed over to UDA,” Ngirici added.<\/p>\n

Defending herself, however, Waiguru accused Ngirici of trying to intimidate her with the aim of forcing her to bow out of the race or bolt from the party.<\/p>\n

She argued that her late entry into the party did not warrant anyone to treat her like a backbencher.<\/p>\n

“This is politics and you cannot mistreat me because of my late entry. As a matter of fact, you have no say as far as elective seats are concerned, the electorate will decide,” she stated.<\/p>\n
