Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The widow of the late Somali-American businessman Bashir Mohamud Mohamed has alleged foul play in the property left by her late husband.<\/p>\n

According to Suadha Rashid Ali, her husband’s accounts had a balance of Ksh80 million at the time of his demise. However, she stated that after going through the bank’s statements, the account only has Ksh3 million – meaning that a whopping Ksh77 million went missing within seven months.<\/p>\n

Through her lawyer, Hussein Kusow, Ali has accused her husband’s brother, Abdifatah Mohamed, of plotting to disinherit her.<\/p>\n

Ali noted that her husband had shares in several companies including Global Infinity Trading FZE Limited, Infinity Development Limited and Hava Net Limited, amassing wealth over time due to his business ventures.<\/p>\n

She noted that at the time, she couldn’t access the funds belonging to her husband as she had not been added as a signatory.<\/p>\n

According to Ali, the funds were transferred a day after she was made a co-signatory to her husband’s account.<\/p>\n

“We were issued with the order on Monday, November 15, but we managed to extract it a day later and served the banks and other respondents the same day. The banks sent their representatives to verify the order and it took a whole day. ”<\/p>\n

“I was added as a signatory on Friday, November 19, but the funds were transferred on Thursday, November 18, to a different account,” she stated.<\/p>\n

Following Ali’s complaint, an order was issued by the Kadhi court to freeze all the accounts belonging to Bashir’s brother- an order that he took issue with. According to Mohamed, the Kadhi court has no jurisdiction to issue such orders.<\/p>\n

Bashir was reported missing on May 13, 2021, and his Range Rover was found burnt at Ngong forest, Kajiado County.<\/p>\n

Nine days later, the businessman’s body was found dumped at the Kerugoya Mortuary with wounds and scars- signalling torture. An autopsy conducted on the body later revealed that Bashir was strangled to death.<\/p>\n
