Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has explained why he sent Deputy President William Ruto parking while the two worked together in the Grand Coalition Government.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a tour of Nairobi County on Sunday, November 28, the former PM accused DP Ruto of insatiable appetite for public resources.<\/p>\n

He further noted that the DP did not have boundaries and that could often dip his hand in the cookie jar, a situation that Raila found appalling.<\/p>\n

“Those that I gave a job and they stole. We chased them away and now they are thumping their chests. Rubbish,” stated Raila.<\/p>\n

He further claimed that the DP carried on with the habit which then led to his fallout with his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

“In a span of one year, he spends Ksh100 million in one year yet we know your salary is just Ksh2 million. Where are you getting all that money. We know you have stolen it,” he added.<\/p>\n

In 2011, Raila, who was serving as the Prime Minister, fired two Ministers including DP Ruto who was in charge of the Higher Education docket.<\/p>\n

At the time, Ruto and the then Agriculture Minister Sam Ongeri, were suspended for three months to pave way for investigations into their conduct before being shown the door.<\/p>\n

The firing came after a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the International Auditor General following investigations into the Ministries.<\/p>\n

At the time, Ruto a member of Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.<\/p>\n

The DP was also caught in the 2007 post-election violence as he faced Crimes against humanity charges at The Hague-based International Criminal Court – ICC. The violence claimed over 1,300 people with over half a million others internally displaced.<\/p>\n

The DP has however on numerous occasions claimed that he helped Raila clinch the Prime Minister’s job.<\/p>\n
