Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A prominent businessman from Kitale who shot a woman he mistook for the then fugitive police officer Caroline Kangogo, has been found dead.<\/p>\n

Confirming the incident on Wednesday, December 1, Trans Nzoia County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Francis Kihara revealed that the tycoon, who managed the popular Iroko Hotels, was found dead inside his house on the morning of Tuesday, November 30.<\/p>\n

He further noted that drugs and juice were found inside the house of the deceased in Kiminini.<\/p>\n

\u201cAssorted drugs and juice were recovered from the bedroom and will aid the investigation officers establish the possible cause of the death,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The tycoon’s mother, Florence Muyundo, confirmed that she stumbled upon her son’s lifeless body when she went to find out about his whereabouts.<\/p>\n

His employees had called her asking about the tycoon’s whereabouts after he failed to show up at the hotel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was around 7:00am yesterday when one of the hotel staff called me seeking to establish the whereabouts of Kennedy who had not reported to his workplace and was neither picking phone calls.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was then that I stumbled on the lifeless and half-naked body of my son lying on the floor of the bedroom,\u201d she narrated.<\/p>\n

His body was moved to Cherengany Nursing Home mortuary.<\/p>\n

At the time of his death, his wife had flown to the United States to take their last born to join his other siblings living there.<\/p>\n

Muyundo, who is a licensed firearm holder, shot a woman he mistook for the then wanted officer Kangogo in July this year.<\/p>\n

The woman identified as Phanice Chemutai Juma was shot in the abdomen at Kiminini Market.<\/p>\n

Chemutai stated that she had gone to the county in search of her sister’s birth certificate. Unfortunately, she was not able to get it in good time, prompting her to book a room in one of the hotels.<\/p>\n

“He insisted that he wanted my contacts. As I was going to my room, he kept calling me. So I asked the caretaker to accompany me outside the gate where he was.<\/p>\n

“He asked who between us was Chemutai and when I said that it was me, he bribed the caretaker with Ksh1,000 and told her to go which she agreed, leaving me alone with him,” she stated.<\/p>\n

At this time, they were both in the car and it is at this point that Chemutai was shot, prompting her to scream for help.<\/p>\n

He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and was released on Ksh200,000 bond.<\/p>\n
