{"id":40882,"date":"2021-12-05T16:50:31","date_gmt":"2021-12-05T16:50:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=40882"},"modified":"2021-12-05T15:46:50","modified_gmt":"2021-12-05T15:46:50","slug":"uda-replaces-national-treasurer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/uda-replaces-national-treasurer","title":{"rendered":"UDA Replaces National Treasurer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced changes in its secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>In the recent changes confirmed by party Secretary General Veronica Maina, UDA announced former People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) Party Leader Omingo Magara as its new National Treasurer<\/p>\n<p>The former South Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP), who served in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in the same capacity replaces Eddah Ruto.<\/p>\n<p>Magara will have three deputies, Kanake Joshua (programmes), former Teso South MP, Mary Emase (policy and strategy) and David Rotich handling operations.<\/p>\n<p>UDA retained Party Leader, Johnstone Muthama&#8217;s three deputies while Secretary-General was allowed a third deputy from the previous two. The new officials will double as the party&#8217;s National Executive Council.<\/p>\n<p>Other top officials who have been replaced include deputy secretary-general in charge of programmes Daniel Sigei, Anthony Ombok (national organising secretary), Ruth Ondicho (deputy secretary, operations), Lily Nyawira (deputy national treasurer, programmes), Mohamed Ishmael (deputy national organising secretary, operations) and Melisa Ngania (legal affairs).<\/p>\n<p>They were replaced by Daniel Ole Sambu, Karissa Nzai, ,Daniel Rotich, Joshua Mugo, Jamuhuru Guyo and Edward Kamau.<\/p>\n<p>The new secretariat comes after Maina wrote to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) citing errors in the previous list submitted by the party.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The party wishes to inform the general public that there was an inadvertent error in that list and therefore an amended list will be issued in due course,&#8221; she stated.<\/p>\n<p>Party members who have an issue with the changes have been asked to submit their complaints by December 10.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the UDA Secretary-General explained that some of the elected leaders who are yet to join the party affiliated with Deputy President William Ruto, were not happy with some of their rivals serving as top officials.<\/p>\n<p>A section of Ruto-allied elected leaders requested that they needed to be involved in the party&#8217;s elections.
